The story

We stripped the Segway GT2 right down on the bench. A new 20S8P pack of Molicel P42A cells went into the deck, a Kelly 7212S controller into the body. Testing, connections, more testing.

In December 2023 we took it out for its first, untuned ride. Of course it needed extra cooling. And tidying up the inside never really ended — on projects like this, wiring is never a do-it-once-and-forget-it job.

The result: a GT2 good for 20,160 W of peak power, by the garage’s own figures. The number on paper matters, but so does how well the battery, controller, wiring and frame behind it work together.
